 Advocacy

As clinicians, psychiatrists advocate for their patients throughout the process of treatment and recovery.

As individual professionals and citizens, interested MAPP members may bring their concerns directly to their legislators or to the executive branches of local, state and federal government.  Please visit the How To Advocate page for more information.

As a professional society, Maine Association of Psychiatric Physicians seeks to advocate for the interests of Maine psychiatrists and their patients before the legislative and executive branches of our federal and state governments. MAPP's advocacy activities are organized by the MAPP Legislative and Governmental Affairs committee, under the leadership of the MAPP Legislative and Governmental Affairs Representative.  MAPP also collaborates with other professional societies and mental health organizations, including but not limited to the Maine Medical Association, NAMI Maine, and the Maine chapter of NASW.

More information regarding current and past MAPP advocacy efforts can be found on the Legislative Issues page.
