|Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is an accredited 51 bed, inpatient psychiatric facility located in Bangor, Maine. We are currently recruiting for an energetic, recovery-focused Psychiatrist who is committed to working with individuals living with persistent mental illness.
DDPC is located in the beautiful and historic community of Bangor, Maine.
This growing central Maine community is poised for dynamic growth and very well located for access to Maine’s renowned coastline, its forest and lake regions, and its mountains. It is also home to the four day long KahBang Music and Art Festival, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the Penobscot Theatre Company, and the American Folk Festival.

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center is a 51 bed psychiatric hospital that provides services for people with severe mental illness. As a member of a state-wide community of care givers, DDPC collaborates with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and their communities and personal supports to provide recovery oriented, respectful, compassionate, and effective psychiatric care and treatment in the least restrictive, safest, and most therapeutic environment we can create.
Provide psychiatric, medical, and dual diagnosis assessment and treatment to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in a state institution in an inpatient setting. The successful, Board certified psychiatrist will lead treatment staff by enhancing performance improvement outcomes, and, must possess excellent clinical leadership skills which foster clinical, administrative, and academic excellence.
You must possess a current license to practice medicine in the State of Maine and National Board Certification in Psychiatry along with experience as a hospital psychiatrist and experience in treating individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and co-morbid substance abuse disorders. Salary is commensurate with experience up to $ 213,000 with excellent benefits.

The Maine Association of Psychiatric Physicians will be holding its 12th Annual Spring Program at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport on April 26-27, 2018. The meeting begins Thursday evening with a reception at 5:00 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m. and a 1 1/2 hour program at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Daniel Price will talk about the Epidemiology, Natural Course, and Neurobiology of Borderline Personality Disorder beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, Dr. Price and Dr. John Gunderson will spend the day talking about the Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder: Good Psychiatric Management. Dr. Gunderson is a renowned expert in the field.
The fees vary depend on whether you are a MAPP member, a physician or a non-physician. Residents and medical students may attend free-of-charge, but registration for all is required. Guests are welcome to join us for Thursday night’s dinner but if you bring a guest or are not a MAPP member the fee is $50 to cover the meal.
