Dr. Andrés Abreu obtained his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and completed his psychiatry residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Dr. Abreu also received fellowship training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Specializing in psychodynamic psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, Dr. Abreu’s practice focuses on the biological, psychological, and social contributors to complex psychiatric problems. He has received extensive training in multiple evidence-based psychotherapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, good psychiatric management, mentalization-based treatment, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and transference-focused psychotherapy.
